A New Way Prayer - To Discover God's Will

A simple prayer to open our hearts to God's perfect plan for us ...

"Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for creating me. I thank you for giving me life and allowing me to enter into Your Love. I was created out of Love, on purpose, with a purpose, for a purpose. I long to know what this purpose is. What is it that you want me to see? What is it that you are asking of me at this time in my life?

Lord, for too long I have only thought about my plans. I say I want your will to be done but I still try to get mine in there too. Help me to surrender to Your Will, completely. Help me to Trust that your way will bring me true peace and a happiness that lasts. In Jesus' name, Amen."

A New Year Prayer

This was originally posted on 1/1/14. Only 2 weeks into the New Year it's worth repeating.

A New Way Prayer for the New Year:

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for this new year. I'm so happy to have the chance to start again. I need a new beginning. I look forward to all the wonderful things you have in store for me. I know that every day is a chance to start fresh. Your Mercy is so great. You are always ready, willing, and able to forgive us our sins and bring us into a new life. I ask for this new life now.

I ask to be made a new creation in your Son, Jesus Christ. I thank you for being so patient with me when I fail to live up to my call as His follower. I want to do better, and become the person you created me to be! I need your help. Please make ways for me where there are no ways. Please build bridges and remove obstacles, and make my path straight.

I ask for the grace to let go and put the past back where it belongs. I pray for the grace not to carry the old baggage into the new year, and to place my future into your care. I pray for you to pour out your healing love in every area of my life. I ask for your help to truly live my life, in You, with You and for You.

I ask for the grace to grow personally this year, to improve myself and my relationships with others. I ask for the grace to grow spiritually this year also, to increase my faith, to let go of my plans and trust Yours, to turn to you in prayer more often, and above all to seek Your Will for my life! Please help me to do what you want me to do and say what you want me to say. Help me to look to you First, in every situation. Please help me to see that you are the answer to every question, and that Your Will brings peace into my life. Your Peace. A Peace the world can't give me.

I thank you for this past year, for being with me through it all in good times and in bad ones. For never leaving me on my own and for loving me through each moment. For understanding my faults, weaknesses and limitations. Thank you for being my strength. Help me to let go of the past year and place everything that has happened into your perfect hands. Help me to move forward in your Love for me. Please help me to respond to the action of your Holy Spirit within me. Help me to come to know you in a deeper and more meaningful way, and to Trust you again with my whole heart. Help me to make a serious commitment to you my God and to put you first in my life, to make you the center of my life, to make you "my all".

Finally, Thank you for sending your Son into the world and into our hearts. Thank you for your unfailing love. I know that you are Good, and Loving, and that you are always with me. I ask for your blessing on this New Year. Please bless and protect my family and everyone near and dear to us. Please guide us all into your Light of Truth, and help us to walk day by day, step by step, in Your direction.

May the Peace of Christ remain with us all year long, and may we grow in love and faith in a New Way, starting Today. In Jesus' beautiful name. Amen.

The Feast of the Epiphany 2014

Happy Feast Day of the Epiphany, also known as "Little Christmas" when the three kings bow down to the King of kings. They find Jesus after a long search for Him. May we increase and deepen our search for Christ today. May we allow His Spirit to guide us. May He lead, and we follow. Here is the Scripture and a New Way Today reflection for this feast day (which is on January 6th, but in 2014 is celebrated in the Church Sunday Jan 5th)

The Magi Visit the Messiah   Matthew 2
" After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route."

REFLECTION:

Today is a great day to reflect on the Lordship of Jesus Christ and also to ask ourselves some reflective questions.

What is it that I treasure?

What gifts can I bring to Christ today? What can I lay down before Him?

What am I unwilling to surrender to the Lord?

What am I holding onto too tightly?

And finally, which direction do we go after we encounter Him? Do we go back the way we came or do we go in a New direction like the Magi did?

Let's take some quiet time to pray today and ask ourselves these questions. There is so much we can give to Christ, particularly our Love for Him. But let's not forget to also give Him our sins, that He came to take away from us. He wants to dispose of them, wash us clean and remember them no more. Let's not allow His coming to be in vain. Let's acknowledge His mission by laying down before Him all that keeps us away from Him. Then, we will be better able to love Him and serve Him, as we are set free by His Love and Mercy.

God knows our weaknesses, our limitations and our sinfulness, and He came to earth anyway, already Loving us as we are. It's a wonderful opportunity to begin the New Year by going to confession, by admitting our sinfulness, and accepting the gift that God gives to us, the gift that God Himself is, the gift of Heaven, the gift of His own Son, Jesus Christ, revealed to the whole world today. In this Joy of the Christmas season let's be filled with hope, since Jesus came to set us free from sin and death, and to give us a New Life!

God Loves us! He has revealed Himself to us and to the whole world today! God is with us! And that's reason to celebrate! May the joy of the Magi be ours in a New Way, Today!
